Speech

Speech sound disorders are the inability to say certain speech sounds correctly beyond the age when the sound is typically learned.  Speech sounds may be substituted, omitted, added, or distorted.

Language

Expressive language is how we express ourselves to others.  Receptive language is how we understand what others are saying.  According to the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), a language disorder is impaired comprehension and/or use of spoken, written and/or other symbol systems. The disorder may involve the form of language (phonology, morphology, syntax), the content of language (semantics), and/or (the function of language in communication (pragmatics) in any combination.

Dyslexia

According to the International Dyslexia Association, Dyslexia is a neurological condition caused by a different wiring of the brain. Reading fails to develop normally from early on in life.  The neural system necessary for phonologic analysis is miswired.  Dyslexic readers must 'Train Their Brain' to use different neurological pathways to learn to read.
